Serenity Privacy Policy

Effective 30 September 2026

This policy covers the Serenity app for Apple devices. Serenity is made by Lukas, an independent developer ("I", "me"), who is responsible for how it handles your data.

The short version

What you write in Serenity is yours. There's no account, no cloud sync, no analytics and no ads. Your moods, journal, check-ins and conversations are stored on your device, and I never receive them.

What Serenity stores on your device

  • Mood entries: your rating, tags, notes and when you logged them.
  • Daily check-ins: sleep, energy, stress and gratitude notes.
  • Journal entries and the exercises you've completed.
  • Your conversations with the chat companion. Replies are generated on your device by the app itself.
  • Your first name and wellness goals from onboarding, your reminder times and your preferences.
  • A small summary for the widgets (your latest mood, wellness score and whether you've checked in today).

All of this lives in the app's storage on your device and is not sent to me or to any third party.

Widgets

If you add Serenity widgets, your latest mood and wellness score appear on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, where anyone holding your phone can see them. Remove the widgets if you'd rather keep that private.

Apple Health

Health access is optional. If you allow it, Serenity reads steps, sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate and mindful minutes to show them on the Home screen and use them in your wellness score, and writes mindful minutes when you finish a breathing or meditation exercise. Health data is only used on your device. It is never sent anywhere and never used for advertising or marketing.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your device as local notifications. No push service or server is involved.

Purchases

Serenity Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment and tells the app whether you're subscribed. I never receive your payment details.

Diagnostics

Serenity contains no crash reporting or analytics code. If you have turned on "Share With App Developers" in your iPhone's Analytics settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and usage reports with me, under Apple's own privacy policy. These never include what you've written.

Exporting and deleting your data

In Settings, Export creates a JSON file with all your entries and hands it to the share sheet. Delete All Data permanently removes your entries, conversations, profile, scheduled reminders and widget data. Deleting the app removes everything too. Mindful minutes saved to Apple Health are managed in the Health app.

Children

Serenity is intended for people aged 13 and over. It doesn't collect personal data from anyone.

Your rights

If you're in the EU or UK you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. Serenity doesn't send any to me, but you're welcome to email me about it.

Changes to this policy

If the way Serenity handles data changes, I'll update this page and the effective date above before the new version of the app is released.
