Before you email, the sections below cover the questions that come up most often. If your issue is here, you'll get a fix in seconds instead of waiting for a reply.
Restore a Pro subscription
If you paid for Pro on another device and Pro is not active on this one, open SpendWise → More → Restore Purchases. If restore reports "no purchases found," check that you're signed into the same Apple ID that made the purchase (iPhone Settings → your name → Media & Purchases).
Cancel or manage your subscription
SpendWise subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. Cancel or change your plan anywhere: iPhone Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Import isn't picking up my bank's CSV
Bank exports vary wildly. If auto-detection guesses the wrong columns:
- In the mapping step, override each dropdown manually. The amber checklist above the Apply button lists exactly what's missing.
- If the date column has an unusual format (e.g.
DD-MMM-YY), tap the Date Format menu → Custom format and enter the format string yourself. The live preview under the picker shows what the first row parses as. - If credits and debits are in separate columns, flip the "Split Credit/Debit columns" toggle and pick both.
- SpendWise remembers your mapping. The next time you import from the same bank, it auto-applies.
The statement check matched the wrong thing, or missed a match
After an import, SpendWise compares each bank line with what you logged. It allows for tips, a few days of posting delay and bank shorthand, but it can't read minds:
- Close calls appear under "Check these". Turn off "Same purchase" and the bank line is added as its own transaction.
- A purchase logged more than 5 days before it posted, or with a very different amount, shows up as missing. Leave it off in "Missing from your log" so it isn't added twice.
- Entries in a different currency than your default aren't compared, so foreign purchases appear on both sides.
- Cash purchases have no bank line. They're listed under "Only in your log" and need no action.
Receipt scanning missed a field
OCR works well on most receipts but nothing is perfect. On the review screen after a scan, every field is editable, so tap to correct anything the parser got wrong. Amount validation is applied as you type. If a scan hangs for more than 30 seconds, SpendWise cancels it automatically and offers to retry.
Home-screen widget shows the wrong data
Widgets refresh on a 30-minute cadence controlled by iOS. To force an immediate refresh, open the main app and view the Dashboard; that writes the latest snapshot to the widget's shared storage. Widgets use the default currency you set in Settings.
Export or delete all your data
Settings → Export Data (CSV) creates a spreadsheet-compatible file. Settings → Reset All Data deletes every transaction and budget on the device. Both are local actions; nothing reaches a server because we don't run one.
