The short version
Reelly has no account and no server of mine. Your scripts are stored on your device and in your own private iCloud, and your videos go to your Photos library. On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence, scripts are written on the device and nothing leaves your phone to write them. If you use an Anthropic or OpenAI key instead, the script request goes straight to that provider.
AI script generation
If your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence and you use it in Reelly, your script is written by Apple's on-device model. Your topic and settings stay on your iPhone, and nothing is sent to Apple, to me or to any AI provider to write it.
If you use Anthropic or OpenAI instead, Reelly sends your topic, tone, platform, length and language directly from your iPhone to the provider you selected: Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) or OpenAI (api.openai.com). The request is made with your own API key, under your own account with that provider, and is handled under their privacy policy and terms. It never passes through me. Don't put anything in a topic that you wouldn't want that provider to process.
Your API keys
Your Anthropic and OpenAI keys are stored in your iPhone's Keychain and are only ever sent to the provider they belong to. Clear the field in Settings to remove a key.
Scripts
Scripts, with their topic, settings and text, are stored on your device and synced to your private iCloud database so they appear on your other devices. That data is protected by Apple under your Apple ID, and I have no access to it. If iCloud is off, scripts stay on the device only.
Camera, microphone and Photos
Reelly uses the camera and microphone to record your videos. Recordings are saved to your Photos library; Reelly only asks to add to Photos, not to read it. Videos leave your phone only when you share them to Instagram, TikTok or anywhere else through the share sheet.
Speech recognition
Voice-paced scrolling uses Apple's speech recognition to follow what you say. Depending on your device and language, Apple may process that audio on its servers, under Apple's privacy policy. It is not sent to me. Use the fixed-pace mode if you'd rather not use speech recognition.
Usage counters
Reelly counts things like how many scripts you've generated this month, to apply the free limit. These counters stay on your device.
Purchases
Reelly Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment and tells the app whether you're subscribed. I never receive your payment details.
Diagnostics
Reelly contains no analytics or crash reporting service. If you have turned on "Share With App Developers" in your iPhone's Analytics settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and usage reports with me, under Apple's own privacy policy.
Deleting your data
Swipe a script to delete it; the deletion syncs through iCloud. Delete videos in the Photos app. Deleting the app removes local data, and you can remove Reelly's iCloud data in Settings, then your name, then iCloud. To delete what an AI provider holds about your requests, see that provider's own settings.
Children
Reelly is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
If you're in the EU or UK you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. Reelly doesn't send any to me, but you're welcome to email me about it.
