Riding with Equee

Where should I carry my phone?

Close to your body. A breeches thigh pocket gives the clearest signal; an upper arm band or a belt clip at your hip also work well. A loose jacket pocket, a saddle bag or a phone holder on the saddle makes gaits much harder to read.

The gaits look wrong

Check where the phone is first (see above). Equee also learns each horse's stride over its first few rides, so the early rides with a new horse are the least accurate. Make sure the right horse is selected before you start, because what Equee learns is kept per horse.

During transitions, or when the rhythm is unclear, the live screen shows a low confidence hint instead of guessing.

A jump wasn't counted

Equee counts a jump from the lift off and the landing, and only while you're moving at more than about 11 km/h, so it doesn't count bumps when you're standing or walking. A small hop from trot, or a fence taken very slowly, may not register.

My route has gaps

Allow location access "Always" (iPhone Settings, Equee, Location) so Equee keeps recording with the screen locked. In Low Power Mode Equee checks GPS less often to save battery, so routes are less detailed. Heavy tree cover and deep valleys can also block GPS for a while.

I don't see my heart rate

Heart rate comes from an Apple Watch through Apple Health. Wear the watch during the ride and make sure Equee may read heart rate: iPhone Settings, Health, Data Access & Devices, Equee.

The app closed during a ride

Open Equee again: it picks the ride back up where it was, with the route recorded so far, so you can finish and save it as usual.

Equee Pro

What does Pro add?

Your full ride history (the free version keeps the last 7 days), heart rate zones, detailed splits, the elevation profile, progress trends, personal records, share cards and GPX export.

How do I restore Pro on a new phone?

Open the Pro screen in Equee and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple ID you bought it with.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Equee. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. A lifetime purchase never renews.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your data

Are my rides backed up?

Only if you turn on "Sync rides to iCloud" in Equee's Settings. It's off by default and uses your own private iCloud account. Health data is never synced to iCloud; Apple Health keeps its own copy of your workouts.

How do I delete a ride, a horse, or everything?

Open a ride and use the menu at the top right, or long press it in History, and choose Delete. Horses can be deleted from their profile. To remove everything, delete the app, and if you used iCloud sync, clear Equee's data in iPhone Settings, your name, iCloud.

Can I export my rides?

With Pro, any ride can be exported as a GPX file for other apps. Before exporting, Equee offers to hide the first and last 200 metres so the file doesn't reveal your yard or home.

How do I change units or language?

Units are in Equee's Settings: metric or imperial, with horse heights in centimetres or hands. Equee follows your iPhone's language (English, German, Spanish, French or Polish); to use a different one for Equee only, open iPhone Settings, Equee, Language.

When you email, it helps to include your iPhone model, the iOS version and what happened just before the problem. See also the privacy policy and terms of use.
