The short version. Equee has no account and no server of mine behind it. Your rides, horses and profile are stored on your device. There are no ads, no analytics services and no tracking. I can't see your data, because it never reaches me.

Who makes Equee

Equee is made by Lukas, an independent developer who writes Solo Operator Stack. This policy covers the Equee app for iPhone and Apple Watch, including its widgets and Live Activity.

What Equee handles, and where it goes

Location. While a ride is active, Equee uses GPS to record your route, distance, pace, speed and elevation. With "Always" permission it keeps recording when your phone is locked. It does not use your location when no ride is running. Routes are stored on your device.

Motion. Equee reads the accelerometer and gyroscope in your iPhone and Apple Watch to detect gaits and jumps. This is processed on the device and only the results are kept, along with what Equee learns about each horse's stride.

Health data. If you allow it, Equee reads heart rate and related workout data from Apple Health to show it during and after rides, and writes finished rides and active energy to Apple Health as equestrian workouts. Health data stays on your device and in Apple Health. Equee does not sync it to iCloud, does not send it anywhere, and never uses it for advertising or marketing.

Your profile and your horses. Your name, optional barn name, body measurements, horse details and photos are stored on your device. Photos are picked with the system photo picker, so Equee only sees the photos you choose.

Optional iCloud sync

If you turn on "Sync rides to iCloud", your rides are stored in your own private iCloud database under your Apple ID. That data is protected by Apple and I have no access to it. Health data is excluded from this sync. Sync is off by default.

Purchases

Equee Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment and tells the app whether you have Pro. I never receive your payment details.

Diagnostics

Equee records performance diagnostics on the device using Apple's MetricKit. They are not sent to me. If you have turned on "Share With App Developers" in your iPhone's Analytics settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and usage reports with me, under Apple's own privacy policy.

Sharing

Nothing leaves Equee unless you share it. Share cards, GPX exports and friend invites go through the iOS share sheet, to wherever you send them.

A GPX file contains the route itself. Before exporting one, Equee offers to hide the first and last 200 metres, which is usually where your yard or home is.

Deleting your data

Delete a ride from its screen or from History, and a horse from its profile. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. If you used iCloud sync, you can remove Equee's iCloud data in Settings, then your name, then iCloud. Workouts written to Apple Health are managed in the Health app.

Children

Equee is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect data from them. Since Equee doesn't send personal data to me, there is nothing for me to collect in the first place.

Your rights

If you're in the EU or UK you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. In practice I hold none from Equee, but you are welcome to email me about it at any time.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
